This is an exciting opportunity for a lawyer with outstanding legal skills and an adventurous attitude to join ZALORA’s legal team. Located in Indonesia, you will report directly to the General Counsel and will be working closely with Zalora Indonesia’s Leadership Team. With a high degree of autonomy, you will be responsible for providing legal advice across the full range of legal matters affecting ZALORA Indonesia’s business across the region. This is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer seeking to grow and gain experience in a variety of legal areas in the burgeoning fashion e-commerce industry.

Responsibilities:

As the lead legal support for ZALORA’s Indonesia business, your role encompasses a broad spectrum of responsibilities crucial to the company's success. You'll provide strategic legal counsel across various domains including commercial transactions, corporate governance, technology, operations, supply chain, logistics, finance, compliance, data protection, corporate restructuring, litigation, HR, and marketing.
Your duties extend to drafting and negotiating a diverse range of contracts, such as purchasing, marketing, logistics, employment, online terms and conditions, technology licensing, warehousing and non-disclosure agreements, ensuring they align with ZALORA's objectives and legal standards.
Identifying legal risks and formulating effective mitigation strategies are integral parts of your role, requiring a keen understanding of ZALORA's complex operations and business landscape. You'll collaborate closely with stakeholders to provide practical solutions tailored to the company's needs.
You'll provide strategic advice on corporate governance and corporate restructuring matters, guiding ZALORA through various transactions and corporate initiatives.
You'll be assisting in managing ZALORA's intellectual property portfolio in ID, ensuring the protection of its assets and enhancing the brand's value and reputation in the market.
You will play a crucial role in supporting the development and launch of essential compliance initiatives in a rapidly evolving regulatory environment, which includes creating and implementing training programs for ZALORA's teams across the region.
You will provide guidance on ZALORA's compliance with data protection laws, ensuring responsible and ethical handling of personal information.
You are tasked to oversee the resolution of disputes, litigation, and regulatory matters, adeptly navigating legal challenges to protect ZALORA's interests.
Your role extends beyond internal operations to managing external counsel efficiently, ensuring cost-effective and timely legal support while maintaining quality and alignment with ZALORA's values.
As a liaison between ZALORA and external stakeholders, you'll cultivate and maintain relationships to advocate for the company's interests effectively. This includes fostering positive government relations, facilitating communication and collaboration with relevant regulatory bodies and industry associations, and staying abreast of legislative developments impacting ZALORA's operations.
Overall, your multifaceted role as a country legal counsel is instrumental in guiding ZALORA Indonesia's strategic decisions, mitigating risks, and fostering compliance and integrity across all aspects of the business.

Requirements:

Essential Qualifications

Law degree required.
7 to 10 years of post-qualification experience in top-tier law firms and large multinational companies.
Extensive legal expertise in e-commerce, supply chain, import and customs, corporate law, commercial law, and government relations.
Strong communication, presentation, influencing, and negotiation abilities.
A critical thinker with the ability to analyze and solve complex legal issues, considering their broader impact on the company's operations and business objectives.
Exceptional legal drafting abilities with keen attention to detail.
Demonstrated sense of responsibility and initiative, capable of working autonomously.
Mastery of prioritization and effective time management skills.
Skilled in building collaborative professional relationships and adept at supporting senior management team members.
Ability to work with stakeholders from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Proficiency in both oral and written English and Bahasa Indonesia.

Desirable Qualifications

Admitted to the Indonesian bar.
Extensive legal experience in one or more of the following fields: supply chain, logistics, technology/digital, corporate licensing, statutory reporting and regulatory stakeholder management .
Proficiency in litigation and disputes.
Substantial experience providing legal support to businesses operating in technology telecommunications, airlines, shipping, couriers, freight forwarding, retail, or FMCG sectors can be considered.
Strong commercial acumen with a genuine interest in the e-commerce industry and the capability to quickly grasp new business concepts.
